Mesotherapy

What is Mesotherapy?

Mesotherapy first developed in France as early as 1952. This procedure is widely used throughout Europe to treat conditions such as rheumatism, various sports injuries, and to improve blood circulation.

Mesotherapy is now being used by some practitioners for the treatment of cosmetic conditions, including skin rejuvenation, treatment for cellulite and fat reduction.

Mesotherapy is a technique where the doctor injects medication, plant extracts, and vitamins into the mesoderm or middle layer of the skin. This will help to break up the amount of cellulite and also improves the appearance of the skin. Mesotherapy can be used to treat the legs, arms, backs, and abdomens.

The Benefits of Mesotherapy

There are several benefits to mesotherapy. These include:

  • Elimination of cellulite
  • Promotion of weight loss
  • Anti-aging benefits
  • Elimination of localised fat deposits
  • Elimination of wrinkles
  • Scar reduction and elimination

The Mesotherapy Procedure

Before the procedure a consultation will be needed to discuss the procedure and what you want to achieve. The practitioner will then identify and map the area that is going to be treated and will clean the region with alcohol to prevent infection.

The patient is then placed on the treatment table before the injection administered to the patient.

Mesotherapy involves multiple injections using a very fine, short needle. By definition, any medication injected into the skin, fat or tissues or middle layer of skin is known as mesotherapy.

Once the medication is injected, results start occurring right away and the injections are relatively painless. These injections will help to improve blood circulation, replace lost vitamins, minerals and amino acids.

The procedure usually takes 20 minutes to 45 minutes and a course of treatment will usually be recommended to achieve the best results.

Mesotherapy Results

Mesotherapy for weight loss:Results are measured in inches. Because fat is melted under the skin, about one pound of fat per week is lost. The Mesotherapy treatment is applied to arms, waist, hips, back, and legs all in one visit. If a person has ten treatments they will probably drop two clothes sizes.

For cellulite: Mesotherapy is a permanent solution that eliminates cellulite. Mesotherapy is used to cause an increase in venous and lymphatic flow, as well as the elimination of fat and dimpling in the area. In four weeks, a patient's skin appears significantly smoother. Most patients lose anywhere from two to four inches where their cellulite is treated.

For spot weight reduction: Mesotherapy is a painless alternative to liposuction. Fat and cellulite are eliminated from targeted sites using the same techniques as above. Unlike liposuction, only the fat (not the fat cells) is removed. After ten sessions, patients can lose two to six inches in their hips, thighs, waist, love handles, back fat and chin when medicine is placed in those areas. Mesotherapy is not used to reduce fatty tumours or breast tissue in women.

For Scars: The combination of homeopathic medication, enzymes and vitamins attack the scar tissue beneath the skin, making the scar less noticeable. After treatment, raised scars appear more flat, and pigmented scars blend more easily with surrounding skin. Depressed or indented scars become flusher with the surrounding area, while puckering and unevenness of the skin surrounding scars decrease. While no scar is capable of becoming eliminated, most can be significantly improved.

Non-surgical facelift: This procedure is called a Mesolift. This treatment gives you a youthful appearance. It takes only a few visits with your doctor to complete the procedure. The doctor uses a combination of homeopathic medication, vitamins, and enzymes to tighten and rejuvenate the skin. Mesolift decreases bags, tightens the skin under the eyes, in the jowls, and reduces wrinkles on the neck using a combination of Mesolift and Restylane. This procedure reduces the effects of aging, sun damage and gravity.

After the Mesotherapy Procedure

Possible side-effects include slight bruising and swelling. Small bruises should vanish in a few days, and if swelling occurs in the injected area it should last no longer than 36 hours. Normal activities should be able to resume straight after the treatment.
